Be Careful What You Say ... This Great Filament Was All Started By Words
There is a Hebrew belief that God spoke the world into being. We exist then as a collection of sacred words. This belief that the world was created thro words resonates across cultures. I too, believe the Divine spoke the world into being. Perpetually speaking in divine beats - the pulse and breath of the Divine - creating worlds perpetually.
Ordinary mortals are creators and creatresses of worlds with words. Once something is written or said it takes on a life of it's own. When we speak we create ideas certainly. If this essay were not written, then the statements - and therefore ideas and relationships - would not exist Writing then functions as speaking in this context of words. Some people, writers and academics, livelihood depends upon this ability to create with words. Fantasty writers, for example, often create worlds in which reality differs from the reality that the majority of the world lives in today. Academics give life to their ideas offer them to be circulated in academic discourse. Lovers also create worlds. Does one really love before he or she says it - or does the act of saying "I love you" create the reality of love? Is love reciprocated because it was there to begin with - or rather, is love created in response to words?
Because words are profoundly people it becomes important then what we say. When we speak about other people, or even things, we influence the essence of that person or thing. If we are talking about a person to people who do not know them then we are speaking that person (subject) into being for another. For example, when you describe someone as a "slut" or "druggy" or give unbecoming details about their personal life, you create a negative image of that person. Describing someone as "shy" or "a loner" creates a different and more positive image than saying "they do not know what is being discussed and have nothing to say" or "(s)he does not have any friends." While the images we create are merely illusions all of life is an illusion. Words are always powerful, weather metaphysical explanations are accepted or not, but they are much more powers (and therefore we have a much greater responsibility to be accountable for what we say) when our words entirely create an individual.

"Father Forgive Me" (later renamed "Baby, the Stars Shine Brite") was started in the hope that a confessional blog would be entertaining reading as well as intellectual. After being neglected for some years is now, rather anonymously written in the hopes of hashing out thoughts in a somewhat intelligent manner. Aside from the writer of this blog, I am a university student majoring in Women's Studies and minoring in English at a prominent Catholic university in Middle America. A dedicated liberal - I also throw and participate fully in raves and rave culture from DJing, to lights and sound crew, to doing homework in legal libraries I'll be there - in true Riot Grrrl style: usually a miniskirt, combat boots, and wildly dyed hair. Aside from considering law school and entering politics I hope to start an organization wherever I end up providing a safe place for teenage girls (and boys) and helping their voices be heard as well as providing information on sex, condoms, and anything under the sun that kids may need. I am currently engaged to a wonderful man and hope to be married sometime around November of 2008.
